It is incredible what an awesome show the bands Emmure, Carnifex, I Killed The Prom Queen, Betraying The Martyrs, Hundredth, Northlane & Hand of Mercy performed. It is time to back track. Carnifex were optically and acoustically bridged the gap between – let’s say oldschool, and what inspired us to compromise. Before there are any words of critisicism climbing over my keyboard, I definitely want to emphasize this concert at Astra in Berlin, was really, really awesome. All the bands were playing the finest sounds and at a very high level. They gave 100 percent – and I may add that all the choirboys actually looked like 120 percent – and created a mega-rich atmosphere.

Actually, we were convinced that the kids wouldn’t allow anyone to take this fantastic evening from them. Quite apart from the cauldron in front of the stage which is or rather was a scene of ‘controlled violence’ as always, we couldn’t make out any aggression. Folks, you guys were really in a great mood! Also the team from Astra has inevitably contributed to this great evening.

After the introduction of this review that carries the character of a final word, we want to return to the beginning of the evening without any further ado.

I stood in front of the Astra, our photographer Laura in front of the Magnet Club. It’s not surprising we could not see each other although the both of us protested that they stood just outside the entrance of the club. Thanks to the density of clubs in Berlin, we were only a stone’s throw away from each other. Meanwhile I was checking the arriving and really cheerful crowd out which mainly consisted of extremely young kids. Rarely there was a grey-haired head to make out. “Who cares!” I thought to myself, ears open, and let’s get through this! Which brings us to the first topic: Open ears… because I have not seen so many large ears or rather flesh-tunnels in my entire life. They were accompanied by a variety of facial and neck tattoos. Apparently it is the new type of the deceitful society to say: We don’t care what you say. Fuck you!

Hey guys, those are our metallic successors. 25 years ago we have passed the evil seed of our mother earth. Now an independent scene has outgrown the cruel ground. If you are not careful, then this ulcer – on its owner’s ass – grows to an incredible size and thus will be more powerful than its aging host.

Laura was now in front of the same club as I was. So what are we waiting for?! Let’s hurry inside to enjoy the first round. Man that was an awesome sound! We were impressed by the quality level of the opening band of this tour. That just goes to show that the supporting bands with their sound can also contribute a considerable part to the success of the evening. You just have to let them show it. The rabid mob was going crazy from the very first second. Hand of Mercy showed what they are made of and fired the club up for the bands that were to follow. It was really top notch what the guys from Sydney showed that night.
